Biography

"Negativ Seaven is a new band comin' out of Syracuse, NY. We play music that has been described as "a heavy ass power groove". Take the bands Soulfly, Coal Chamber, Acid Bath, Slipknot, Machine Head, Sepultura and Staind.....throw 'em in a blender & mix it up and you might just begin to understand the Negativ Seaven sound."

"Negativ Seaven is all your nightmares in audio form! a couple of high schoolers and a couple of psychos make up this band. Negativ Seaven has grown from two brothers rockin out in their garage into a full-on audio assault. The band after many line up changes of different singers and second guitarists finally ended up at its present state in 1998. That is when Negativ Seaven took off and forged a sound all their own. Aaron has been heard to say, "We play what we think sounds good and what expresses our emotions, pain, and sometimes hatred. We don't set out trying to write songs that sound a certain way or fit into a certain genre. I'm still not exactly sure what you would classify our music as." Negativ Seaven started playing shows in Syracuse, NY in June of 1999. They have played numerous shows with many bands including: Dirtgut, Beyond Fall, Brace, Smackin' Daddies, Hate Machine, Jamus Breed, S.A.N.E., Bellow, God Below and many others. Then they played a show whose opening band was the Pale Green Stars. The singer from Pale Green Stars is none other than Jeff Jones from Dracula Jones, Tuscaloosa, I Jones Alone, and many other bands. Jones is a legendary musician and producer who along with Steven Zaferakis founded Vinyl Brothers Records, a small indie label, in Syracuse, NY a year or so earlier. The Vinyl Brothers, Steve and Jeff, were thoroughly impressed with Negativ Seaven's performance at the show that night and approached the band about hooking them up. Anyway to make a really long story a little bit shorter, a few months later Negativ Seaven was in the studio recording the "Stillborn" cd/ep. So far it has sold over 400 copies since it was released on April 12th. The songs "Embed" and "Killers Mind" have gained air play on local and independent radio shows and the cd/ep has been gaining recognition and respect from fans and the industry in the local area as well as other parts of the country."

"started a two or three years ago by brothers matt and shane jones on drums and guitar respectively. stayed a two peice for a few years eventually picking up a second guitarist while still looking for a bassist and singer to fill in the gaps. aaron jenkins joined on bass guitar and justin oatman joined on vocals. jim blasier was added to the mix and negativ seaven then had two vocalist. eventually the second guitarist was dispatched from the band as well as the singer justin. the line up has then stayed the same till the present; shane, matt, aaron, jim. the negativ seaven style has been evolving since its creation, but has never strayed from shanes pummeling guitar riffing and matts intense drumming. the negativ seaven sound has always been created by what the band enjoys, casting aside outside influences negativ seaven has forged its own brand of powerful and chaotic music that people either love or hate."
