From Nu-metal Preservation
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Nu-Metal Preservation (NMP) dedicates itself to the preservation of music from the "Nu-Metal" genre and all its sub-genres. Most of these items are no longer available from their original suppliers, and are mainly in the possession of an ever-diminishing community of collectors. Just by the passage of time, these albums, singles, and demos are affected by the gradual deterioration of the media that stores them. A significant portion of this music risks being lost forever in the near future, but it can be prevented.

Our Mission

Our main objective is to guarantee the preservation of such an important part of music history. Nu-metal emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s as a revolutionary fusion of metal, hip-hop, industrial, and alternative rock, producing countless albums that defined a generation. However, many of these releases, particularly from independent labels, regional bands, and limited pressings, are rapidly disappearing from existence.

We plan on archiving and preserving every piece of media related to the genre that we come across, with a primary focus on CDs. This includes:

  • Studio albums and EPs from major and independent labels
  • Rare singles and promotional releases
  • Demo recordings and early band material
  • Import editions with exclusive tracks or alternate artwork
  • Limited edition pressings and box sets

Due to the sheer number of releases from both bands and labels, we heavily rely on contributions and help from related communities. CD media degrades over time through disc rot, scratching, and general wear, making it critical that we create high-quality digital archives before these physical copies become unreadable. Each properly archived release ensures that future generations can experience this music exactly as it was intended, complete with album artwork, liner notes, and the full audio fidelity of the original pressing.

Every contribution, whether it's a rare demo from a local band or a well-known album with a 100% Log and perfect Scans, helps build a comprehensive archive.
