About Us

From Nu-metal Preservation

The Nu Metal Preservation Project was founded by mthntc in August 2019, driven by the lack of organized, easily accessible repositories for nu metal and the complete online unavailability of some artists’ material. From the outset, the project’s primary goal has been to build a comprehensive collection from all available sources, eliminate duplicates, and ultimately make a carefully reorganized archive accessible online.

The project operated privately and offline while the collection and workflow were established. In October 2020, a Discord server was launched as the community began to grow alongside early traction on the mthntc YouTube channel. Around the same time, the archive started being shared via Soulseek, and a portion of the collection supported periodic uploads to YouTube. As the project matured, its focus expanded from online discovery to locating physical media and completing in-house digitization.

Over time, the project has evolved into a collaborative effort supported by dozens of contributors who actively expand the archive, build this work-in-progress website, and maintain YouTube channels that share preservation updates and milestones with the public.

As of September 2025, the archive includes well over 5,000 albums, including approximately 1,600 ripped by past and present members of the community. We have also received support and approval from members of several bands represented in the archive, encouraging us to continue this work.
