Biography

Eraso! is a group founded in Zarautz (Gipuzkoa) at the end of 1996. Although in the beginning he dealt with raw thrash metal along the same lines as his compatriots Stygia and Anestesia, he immediately took the path towards hardcore and rock. The continuous musical development of the Gipuzkoans started with their first album Without Answers (Mil A Gritos, 1999), and they have confirmed it with the other four albums they have released since then.

Attack! (exclamation mark included) although there were several musicians at the creation of the group, this quartet started its career: Sergio Ruiz (vocals and guitar), Nestor Urdanpilleta (guitar), Amaiur Cajaraville (bass) and Iñigo Beitia (drums). In the mid-90s they started to affect musical instruments. At that time, the phenomenon of nu metal or new metal hit hard in the United States of America, and immediately spread to the whole world. However, the people of Zarauz were closer to Anestesia and Stygia, and followed their same musical path: thrash music. Thus, in 1996, they released the first model, called Everything. High speed and primitive. A few months later, however, and once the drummer Iñigo was established in the group, they released the second demo: Gaua. This new work, consisting of six songs, was well received. They entered the finals of the Gaztemania mock-up competition organized by the Gipuzkoa Province and had the opportunity to perform more concerts. Seeing the good response, the quartet started preparing the first album. For this purpose, together with the musician Mikel Kazalis (Anestesia, Negu Gorriak, 2 Kate, Kuraia), Shot! they entered the studios. At first they recorded four songs, and then another six came, until they completed the full-length album. Without answers (Mil A Gritos, 1999) was published by the record company founded by the group Soziedad Alkoholika. The Zarauz metal group took another step in its development. "Our music has a lot of power and sensitivity" (1). For the first album, it had a good reception. In this album, Aitor Abio (Pi.LT) and Anari collaborated.

In 2001, Now and Then (Mil A Gritos) arrived. In this, they had the help of Haritz Harreguy and Mikel Kazalis during the recording at the Garate studio in Andoain. Along with a white and expressive cover, Eraso! gave his music another twist, without losing its character. They collected the raw version of the song "Ikusi" by Delirium Tremens on that album. Afterwards, the Zarauzko group gave several prestigious concerts outside the Basque Country. He also performed as a guest for classic thrash metal bands Slayer and Machine Head, among others.

As soon as 2003 arrived, the quartet started working on a new album. Mikel Kazaliz's Fidelenea entered the new recording studio, and from there the days soaked in Gray came out with the third work. In this case, he changed record labels and was published by the Meta label. Then they started another concert tour, and they had a stop to play in Austria. In the autumn of 2004, however, Amaiur Cajaraville left the band (he currently plays in the jazz band Igelaren Banda, with Bixente Martinez and Hasier Oleaga). Therefore, the band went on hiatus while they found another bass player. In the end, the veteran musician Ander Izeta (Estigia, Who?) joined them and they started preparing another work. After the last good experience, he did the recording work again in Fidelene. The fourth album Kontra (Metak, 2005) was the highest and most mature point of an evolution.

The group presented the album live for two and a half years, in 2010 it participated in the Bilbao BBK Live festival, and in 2012 Ander Izeta joined the Barricada group, replacing the singer and bassist El Drogas. Therefore, seven years passed before the release of the fifth album, Ez gara never die (Bomberenea Actions, 2012). In this work, Eraso! went for "a homogeneity where sensitivity and hardness come together", in the words of the team members. The new album also brought a change in the live performances, as from now on Sergio Ruiz stopped playing the guitar and took care only of singing.
