Biography
Dilutral formed in Southampton, UK, back in about '97 with Paul Haines on guitar and Darran Gregory on drums. They were soon joined by Dave Corney on bass. The line up was completed by Kai Harris on vocals and Jason Needham on guitar.
The band became well known locally, playing numerous gigs around the south. Sadly, however Paul Haines left in '99. He was shortly thereafter replaced by Philip Harrison, an old friend of the band.
At this point the band was changing direction, moving from a hardcore/nu-metal sound to one which included more dynamics. After playing further local gigs with a near new set-list, the new incarnation of Dilutral then recorded their debut E.P in 2000, a self release entitled "Everything; Nothing". The release was very well received by magazines and fanzines. As a result, Dilutral grew in popularity, supporting national touring acts such as the Lost Prophets.
Their second self released EP, “Phi” (2002) saw Dilutral refine their sound further, making greater use of time and tempo changes and featuring rich, layered, textures. This was followed by a series of live shows which included new songs written in 2003, and a support gig at Southampton Guildhall for the sold-out "Steve-o" (of MTV's Jackass fame) tour.
Original drummer Darran Gregory then left the band and was replaced by Tom Clark, a friend of Dave Corney's. The new line up wrote a couple more songs and toured England in mid 2004. Shortly afterwards, Dave Corney left the band to move to Bristol and study music. Due to the difficulty of finding another suitable bass player, and due to musical differences between the remaining members, Dilutral decided to call it a day in late 2004 and pursue different musical paths.
