Biography
Backstab were a French Nu Metal band with Electronic & Drum N Bass elements that formed back in 1995. The band released 2 full albums, 2 singles and a demo as well as appearing on a number of compilations over the years. The band also contributed a remix for Fear Factory (for the track 'Smasher/Devourer') which became an "Obsolete" B-Side. Over the years the group shared the stage with the likes of Nihil, Pleymo, Urban Dance Squad, Artsonic, Tripod & Watcha as well as many others. Little is known about the end of the band, but their last release came in 2005 with their second full length "Futura". Members of the band have name checked groups like Senser, Infectious Grooves, Asian Dub & The Beastie Boys as early influences on their creativity.

How to describe their music ? Emotions versus jungle fury, industrial bruises gliding into organic moistness, oriental emanations crossbred with trip hop.
Sounds weird, doesn’t it ? But it works and takes you on some mystic travel through futuristic urban structures and soothing sounds.
«Aïki Taïso» is quite an ambitious record, yet selfproduced. The title comes from martial arts : this non-violent discipline enhance inner energy by gathering body and spirit. That’s exactly what Backstab try to do with their music! Excite the senses… Inspiration and experimentation have no limit for the band.
Want some examples? Backstab were the only French band on « Ibanez Project » compilation (USA, 1998). Alex (guitar) won a French remix contest for Fear Factory in 1998. The band did a video (« L’œil du clone », featuring on th CD) and a gig in Paris with a French dance company in 2000 (...)"
